  • Editorial Watercolor Illustration for The Oil & Gas Year - Executive Recognition & Offshore Innovation

  • Left Page – Mexico 2019 | Person of the Year Feature:
This piece celebrates Tania Ortiz, then CEO of IEnova, one of the largest private energy companies in Mexico. Recognized as Person of the Year, Ortiz's leadership in natural gas infrastructure is symbolized here through the depiction of a Mexican offshore platform and crude oil tanker, reflecting both her strategic direction and the country’s push for energy modernization. The visual underscores the integration of executive leadership and industrial scale, serving as a tribute to women shaping national energy narratives.

Right Page – Malaysia 2015 | Malikai Field Feature:
This illustration showcases the Classic MOSES Tension-Leg Platform (TLP), designed for Shell’s Malikai deepwater field offshore Sabah, Malaysia. As one of Malaysia’s pioneering deepwater developments, the Malikai TLP integrates moored stability and subsea production at depths exceeding 500 meters. Due to the lack of photographic access at the time, this watercolor—originally published on January 20, 2015—reconstructed the engineering feat in a stylized, black-and-white aesthetic. The piece reflects TOGY’s innovative use of art to visualize complex energy infrastructure.

  • To create a powerful editorial pairing—honoring a national leader in Mexico’s energy sector while highlighting a world-class deepwater project from Malaysia—using original watercolor artwork to overcome visual content limitations and elevate The Oil & Gas Year’s visual storytelling.

    • Left: Became the Person of the Year centerpiece in Mexico 2019, reinforcing IEnova’s leadership role under Tania Ortiz.

    • Right: First published in The Oil & Gas Year Malaysia 2015 as part of the E&P Innovation Series, highlighting Shell's Malikai project.

    • Both: Showcased TOGY’s editorial innovation and opened commercial opportunities with operators and national oil companies.

    • Enabled TOGY to use visual storytelling as a branding tool, supporting both field insights and executive features.

    • Both artworks were created without usable high-res images.

    • The Mexican offshore scene was reconstructed from compressed fragments and client memory.

    • The Malikai TLP was based on low-resolution wireframes and technical outlines, requiring manual reimagination of structural scale, depth, and presence.

    • Aligning two artworks with different tones and functions—tribute vs. engineering—while making them part of a cohesive spread.
