Twin adventures - Understanding the sun
In this multimedia adventure series for the Twin App, I led the concept development and animation design for a STEM story that takes young users—aged 7 to 12—on a fantastical yet scientifically grounded journey to the Sun. The episodes were created with age-appropriate narration and simple visuals, designed to explain extremely complex physical concepts such as plasma, solar energy, heat reactions, and elemental changes in a format children could both enjoy and learn from.
The central character—Twing—takes off in a custom-designed spaceship and journeys to the surface of the Sun. Through animated storytelling, it introduces kids to solar plasma, energy transfer, sun explosions, and the transformation of matter through heat: ice, sun, water, steam—explaining all four states of matter and energy reactions in a fun, accessible way.
Children can grasp powerful scientific principles when framed through relatable, story-driven adventures. The use of character-led storytelling enables young users to emotionally engage and retain foundational scientific knowledge in a joyful, safe learning space.
-
Make high-level scientific concepts (plasma, solar activity, matter transformations) accessible to 7–9-year-olds
-
Boost user engagement by integrating storytelling with interactive education inside the Twin App
-
Support the app’s curriculum with exciting visual journeys grounded in STEM fundamentals
-
Reinforce the brand’s approach to playful, purpose-driven science education
-
-
Bright, clean backgrounds to reduce cognitive overload
-
Character animation with exaggerated, child-friendly expressions
-
Voiceover guidance for each segment in a calm, encouraging tone
-
Particle effects for plasma and solar flares
-
Visual metaphors like boiling water and melting ice to bridge real-life experience with abstract science
-
Vortex transitions, steam textures, and solar flashes used to communicate energy flow and state changes
