JukePark is a multifunctional mobile app designed to reduce the cognitive and emotional burden of city parking by merging real-time mapping with sensory feedback tools like music and time-based alerts. Developed as my final project for the UX Strategy and UI course at Seneca, JukePark was not just about solving a logistical issue—it was about transforming a daily urban stressor into a personalized, emotionally resonant experience.
Through an extensive human-centered research process, I explored how we associate traffic tension with our senses, and designed a system that not only finds parking, but also provides voice-controlled navigation, mood-adaptive music playback, alarm scheduling, and collaborative tagging. JukePark turns the hunt for parking into a flow-based ritual, where stress is replaced by clarity and rhythm.
To redefine parking as an emotionally intuitive, tech-enhanced experience by integrating three pillars:
-
Smart Search – Real-time parking discovery and map enhancement tools
-
Mood-Based Jukebox – Music that matches or uplifts traffic tension
-
Community Collaboration – Tag your route, playlist, and spot with others in your city
The app goes beyond conventional navigation. It listens, speaks, uplifts, and connects. It’s where emotional UX meets smart urban mobility.

JukePark isn’t just a utility—it’s a mood-aware companion that listens to the rhythm of the street, responds to user tension, and encourages a more joyful interaction with space and time. It proves that by combining sound, interface clarity, and human insight, even parking can become an uplifting moment.
Urban drivers today face a layered cocktail of frustrations: traffic congestion, information overload, parking fines, overstimulation, and digital distraction. Apps provide static solutions like GPS or pay-by-phone, but they fail to address the emotional impact—how stress builds in the moment of searching, and how silence, confusion, or noise amplify the anxiety.
There was a design opportunity to explore how spatial logic, sound, and time awareness could be fused into a one-touch system that understands your driving context.
I interviewed a diverse group of urban drivers—including parents, delivery workers, freelancers, and students. The core insight: Parking isn't just about location—it’s about time, clarity, and how we feel when we navigate space.
Persona Highlight: "The Rhythm-Seeking Commuter"
-
Needs: Quick access to safe, free parking in unfamiliar areas
-
Pain: Gets anxious in high-traffic zones and avoids unknown districts
-
Wish: Wants to park stress-free and enjoy the rest of the ride
-
Quote: “If something could talk to me, guide me, and even play a song—I'd feel more human and less robotic behind the wheel.”
-
JukePark followed an emotion-first UX strategy with a smart system architecture that aligns logic, audio, and time:
-
Color Theory: A gradient-based UI with cool purples and blues to decrease perceived pressure during decision-making.
-
One-Thumb Control: All decisions (parking, jukebox, alarm) are vertically stacked for no-distraction interaction.
-
Voice Command Ready: Future-proofing the design for voice-activated integration in driving scenarios.
-
Street Mood Engine: Evaluates traffic congestion and triggers energy booster playlists.
-
User-Tagged Beats: Drivers can geo-tag their music to specific zones, creating a shared city soundtrack.
This was not only a functional prototype—it was a speculative design about urban flow and digital empathy.
-
Usability testing was conducted with 6 participants across different personas and scenarios (family trip, solo night drive, quick city stop).
Feedback included:“This app doesn’t just help—it cares.”
“I loved that the music wasn't random—it felt like a co-pilot.”
“The tagging part made me feel part of a city playlist.”
Adjustments were made based on test outcomes to simplify toggling between modes and to soften alarm visuals for a friendlier experience.

JukePark integrates a range of intelligent, emotionally responsive features designed to enhance every stage of the parking experience. At its core is the Free Parking Finder, which locates real-time, nearby spaces using voice or one-touch input—eliminating the chaos of circling the block. The app also includes a Mood-Based Jukebox, which detects traffic congestion levels and suggests music to either soothe or energize the driver, creating a rhythm that responds to real-world stress. To help users stay on schedule, a Smart Alarm Scheduler is built into the experience, offering friendly reminders and auto-alerts before parking time expires. One of the app’s standout innovations is the Street Music Tagging feature, allowing users to geo-tag specific songs or playlists to particular neighborhoods—fostering a sense of community and localized audio storytelling. All interactions are designed to be voice-enabled, ensuring that every feature remains safe and accessible without distracting from the road. Together, these features transform JukePark from a simple utility into an emotionally aware, collaborative driving companion.
