THE OIL & GAS YEAR
This infographic visualizes Iran’s key oil, gas, and combined field developments at a glance. Using ArcGIS and industry data, I designed a layered map that displays signed and pending Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) across more than 30 strategic sites. Each field is tagged with clearly structured data: estimated reserves, current production, projected output, and the status of international energy agreements. Color-coded field icons differentiate oil, gas, and dual-purpose fields for immediate clarity.
The goal was to simplify complex national energy data into a digestible, professional map for The Oil & Gas Year publication, which is used by industry experts, analysts, and policymakers.
Give decision-makers a single, powerful visual to understand where major investments and partnerships are emerging in Iran’s energy sector — and what potential each field holds.
Geopolitical energy insights are only as useful as they are understandable — and this map made national-scale strategy both accessible and actionable.
To create a clear, data-driven field map that would help professionals instantly compare regional energy activity, evaluate MoU statuses, and assess Iran’s most critical upstream opportunities.
Working with overlapping datasets across diverse sources — from field production metrics to international contract statuses — required precision in both visual clarity and geographic accuracy. Visual harmony across more than 30 callouts, each with dense information, was also key.
The final result became a cornerstone of The Oil & Gas Year – Iran Edition. It helped simplify complex data into a tool trusted by analysts, investors, and regional leaders. The use of strong iconography, typographic balance, and spatial intelligence made it one of the most shared visuals in the publication’s annual output.
