THE OIL & GAS YEAR
This infographic was created to capture the progress made in Nigeria's oil and gas sector since the introduction of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act in 2010. It highlights how local entrepreneurs have grown their control over oil and gas production and how local manufacturing, services, and infrastructure have expanded significantly. With a clear visual narrative, the design charts policy impacts and strategic investments, especially by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
Explore how policy-driven initiatives and visual storytelling can promote transparency, boost local economies, and inspire industry transformation.
Effective policy paired with focused investment and clear communication design can catalyze economic empowerment and industrial growth. Nigeria’s local content strategy is proof that design can help simplify complex economic journeys for broader engagement.
To present Nigeria’s local content growth as a structured journey—making complex regulatory goals and funding mechanisms visually digestible to stakeholders, partners, and the public.
One of the main challenges was condensing detailed policy measures and technical criteria (such as investment terms and project requirements) into an intuitive, engaging visual. It was critical to ensure the layout remained accessible without compromising detail.
The success of this infographic lies in its ability to merge technical accuracy with visual clarity. It was later used in presentations and publications, reinforcing the role of storytelling design in public communication efforts.
As a designer, I saw this project as an opportunity to shift public perception around policy-heavy topics. I approached this challenge with a storytelling mindset, building an engaging journey that could speak to industry professionals and broader audiences while staying rooted in the core data and regulatory structure.
